Radio System FAQWhat is the link function?9Z is the flagship of the Futaba line. What makes is such is its amazing flexibility. There is very little you CAN'T get a 9Z to do, if you know your way around the radio. For the 8U and 9C, the link function is only a "link out" function—meaning that if mix 1 is set up, lets say, to mix rudder to elevator (to get rid of pitching when knife edge), and link is turned on, then the radio will say "Ok, mix from rudder to elevator AND if there are other mixes from elevator to other channels, also obey those" Now, if you're using 2 elevator servos, and the second servo is commanded by a mix, you sure as heck want link ON in this mix. If, however, you only have one elevator servo, and you have an elevator to flap mix and you DON'T want flap response from your rudder to elevator mix, you'd better leave link OFF. Scenario 1: Scenario 2: OK, so that's the "link out" function ... from this mix link OUT to other mixes. The 9Z also has "link in". This means that if any other mix in the radio commands the master channel in this mix as a slave, then it should also follow through with this mix. For example, you set up 9Z's standard elevator to flap mix. This mix doesn't have a choice to turn "link out" on in the prebuilt mix. Now if you're using 2 flap servos and a mix to drive them both, you're going to darn well want that elevator to flap mix to command both flap servos and not just the one plugged into channel 6! By turning Link ON on the "in" side of the mix, you're telling the radio that any time you tell channel 6 to do something, also command this mix. SCENARIO A: SCENARIO B: |
