Find The Perfect Radio:

Radio System FAQ

I have mixed channels 5, 6, 7 or 8 to another function and do not want the knobs/gear switch to affect these channels any longer, OR I want to be able to turn this knob/gear switch on and off in flight. How can I deactivate the knob/gear switch?

To deactivate the knob (or gear switch) we will use a PMIX and essentially you are telling the radio that for every 1% the knob is turned move the servo 1% the opposite direction to counter this turning of the knob. (We are mixing the channel to itself -100%.) This will deactivate the knob without affecting any of your other features. For this example, we are turning off the channel 6 knob. (You use an identical mix, but channel 5 to channel 5, to turn off the gear switch.)

___ 1. Press the 2 advanced menu keys.

___ 2. Mode up or down until you get to an open PMIX, lets assume PMIX 2 is available.

___ 3. Press the + key to turn the mix on.

___ 4. Press the cursor key to get to the first channel screen.

___ 5. Press the + key until it reads FLP.

___ 6. Cursor over to the second channel screen.

___ 7. Press the + key until it reads FLP.

___ 8. Cursor over to the % screen.

___ 9. Turn the channel 6 knob all the way to the left.

___ 10. Set the % at -100%.

___ 11. Turn the channel 6 knob all the way to the right.

___ 12. Set the % at -100%.

___ 13. Cursor over to link.

___ 14. Ppress plus to turn link on.

___ 15. Cursor over to offset.

___ 16. Leave offset at 0.

___ 17. Cursor over to switch assignment.

___ 18. Leave switch assignment null UNLESS YOU WANT TO USE YOUR KNOB IN FLIGHT SOMETIMES, AND BE ABLE TO TURN IT ON AND OFF IN FLIGHT. In this case, assign this pmix to a switch you are not using for other features and set the switch position in which it is activated.
