Radio System FAQ
Turning gyro on/off with gear switch (for take offs/landings).
To turn your heading hold gyro on and off so that the gyro is on only for take offs and landings (for scale competition for example), you can do this one of two ways.
- Mix from channel 5 (gear) to channel 6/7/8/9 (gyro). Choose a programmable mix, make the master gear, the slave your gyro on/off channel, and set the % to 100%. (For 6X/7U users, you will have to use your mix/dual rate switch to turn this mix on and make/keep it active.)
REPEAT the exact mix a second time if your gyro is not a heading hold gyro; otherwise, you will drop to 1/2 gain not turn the gyro off.
- Do an offset mix (6X can't do this, sorry), with master as OFST and slave as the gyro channel, set at 100%. Again, if not a heading hold (AVCS) gyro, duplicate the mix.
